Over the course of my summer a friend and I created a group called the 2Kings. The idea was that we are both the same kingdom (area code) and that our egos make us often seem male diva-ish so we called ourselves the kings… The Purpose of the group is to network with other people from around the area (we are also open to external sources) to work against the general stereotype that is opposed on us as youths of London in the hackney borough. In showing them that not everyone from the area is a menace and as a community we can bring positive energy through collaboration. Maybe they will see that it is worth funding children to do things they enjoy other than sport and typical after school activities were multimedia based and the resources aren’t always available to children of a poorer upbringing.
I believe with enough work I could get recognition from my local government and help create a positive movement for the youth of my local community.
Currently as a group we have had a community party for local young adults to promote socialising and networking, we have a YouTube channel full of videos from the summer… I showcase them as video slideshows that trail linear through the summer, so if you had bumped into me at some stage through the summer it would be documented on YouTube, I have video footage from the Local Park, local hot spots and recently restored areas in the borough
